Multisensor Snow/Ice Cover Maps:
Southern Hemisphere

Snow in South America, Australia and New Zealand is derived from METOP AVHRR only over regions shown with light green color. Ice in Antarctica is mapped
with SSMIS onboard DMSP F-15, F-16 and F-17.

The algorithm is fully automated and operational.
